2025-2027 MPHA Kentucky Breeders Incentive Fund
The Kentucky Horse Breeders Incentive Fund (KHBIF or KBIF) is funded by sales tax collected on stud fees of stallions based in Kentucky. This money is maintained by the State of Kentucky and directly distributed to the owners of Kentucky Born and Bred horses involved in state-approved programs. A portion of the fund is designated for each approved non-racing breed, including the Mountain Pleasure Horse, which is recognized as a state-approved. The Kentucky Race Horse Authority (KRHA) oversees all facets of this program on behalf of the State of Kentucky.

Kentucky Born and Bred Mountain Pleasure Horses must be nominated for participation each year by May 1st and must abide by all rules of the program, as set up by the MPHA. Sires and Dams of participating KBIF qualifying horses must be nominated for participation each year by May 1st and must abide by all rules of the program.

The MPHA will utilize a high point program for 2025-2027. Nominated horses will earn points from participation in approved equine events and competitions throughout the season (January 1st-November 1st). Points will be awarded on both placement in a competition (places 1st-6th) or participation in an approved event.
